About this class
The Ranger is the free ranged alternative to Hunter. She needs more build effort than Sorcerer for similar results, but behind a Knight she still clears waves — Community guides recommend flat damage before attack-speed % bonuses.
Skill priority
- Early: flat Attack Damage for several levels — % attack-speed is weak while base damage is low.
- Use Scatter Shot or multi-hit basics for wave clear; avoid spreading damage across too many targets early.
- After Rune of Awakening (second skill slot): respec and pivot into Arrow Rain, then stack Crit Chance.
- Mid/late: Piercing Arrow and Rapid Fire for attack-speed scaling; Skewer Shot unlocks around level 40.
- At high levels favour basic-attack-based skills over long cooldown time-based skills.

- Knight + Priest + Ranger — Standard early-game foundation: tank, sustain, sustained rear DPS.
- Sorcerer replaces Ranger in the stronger free AoE comp if you prefer pack clear over single-target consistency.
Mistakes to avoid
- Stacking attack-speed % before base Attack Damage is high.
- Never respeccing into Arrow Rain when the second active slot opens.
- Front slot — she dies to stray hits in Act 3+.
- Survivability gear before maxing offense.
