Task Bar Hero Build — quick answer

Searching task bar hero build, taskbar hero build, or Task Bar Hero Best Build? This page is the team-comp layer — open each class page for skill and stat details.

Every strong Task Bar Hero Build starts with the same core: Knight tanks the front line, Priest heals and buffs ally attack damage, and your best unlocked DPS fills the third seat. A Task Bar Hero build only matters once Formation slots and the free Priest DLC are online — unlock Rune of Command before chasing perfect skill trees.

The Task Bar Hero Best Build for most accounts is Knight + Hunter + Priest (paid Hunter) or Knight + Sorcerer + Priest (fully free). Pick each hero’s primary role and build entirely into it — match gear sockets to the role (armor on Knight, spell power on Sorcerer, attack speed on Ranger).

  • Task Bar Hero Best Build (overall): Knight + Hunter + Priest — top burst for Acts and bosses.
  • Best free Task Bar Hero build: Knight + Sorcerer + Priest — clears the full game without paid classes.
  • Safest farming build: Knight + Ranger + Priest — steady idle clears for gold and gear.
  • Two-slot starter build: Knight + Ranger or Ranger + Priest until slot three opens.

Before your Task Bar Hero build — unlock order

Every Task Bar Hero Build assumes these account milestones. Skip them and even perfect skill points underperform.

  • Claim the free Priest DLC from Steam (Formation → Characters → Priest) — she is in both meta trios.
  • Buy Rune of Command on the Growth path for Formation slot 2 (~10,000g), then save for slot 3 (~150,000g).
  • Deploy Priest in slot 2 as soon as possible — Knight + Priest is the safest early duo.
  • Hero-dric Cube at hero level 4 — set Alchemy to melt grey gear; socket Blue+ gear only after roles are set.
  • Rune of Awakening (second active skill slot, ~50k) comes after the third hero slot when gold is tight.

The Knight + Priest core

Every viable Task Bar Hero team is built around two heroes. Priest is the only dedicated healer — she also buffs ally attack damage with Blessing of Might, so dropping her for a second DPS is the most common reason parties wipe on boss enrage.

The Knight holds aggro and soaks hits your back-line DPS cannot survive. Lock in Knight + Priest, then swap only the third seat based on whether you need burst (Hunter), free AoE (Sorcerer), or steady farming (Ranger).

With only two Formation slots, run Knight + Priest plus your single best damage hero until the third Command node is funded — rushing slot three is an early priority covered in the beginner and rune guides.

Task Bar Hero Best Build — three-hero team comps

Formation placement — front vs back

Open Hero → Formation to deploy heroes, unlock slots via the Rune Tree, and reorder positions. Deploying a new hero has a 60-second cooldown; reordering with the arrow buttons has no cooldown.

Tankier heroes like Knight belong in the front slot to intercept damage. Ranged DPS (Ranger, Hunter, Sorcerer) stay in the back — putting them front-line causes instant deaths in Act 3+. Priest stays behind the tank but within buff range.

Adding a new class does not auto-fix placement. After every swap, check order before retrying a stage — bad positioning as a top reason parties fail despite good builds.

  • Slot 1 (front): Knight — always, unless running a experimental glass-cannon duo.
  • Slot 2–3 (back): Ranger / Hunter / Sorcerer for damage; Priest for heals and buffs.
  • Dying quickly? Move Priest further back or swap a DPS for Knight before changing skill builds.

Stat priority by role — universal build rules

Applies to every trio. Per-class skill order lives on each hero build page — this table is the cross-class layer task bar hero builds searches need.

Farming teams vs boss push teams

Match the trio to the job. For idle gold and gear farming, consistency beats burst — Knight + Ranger + Priest’s even clear speed wins multi-hour AFK runs.

For an Act wall or hard boss, burst beats consistency — swap Ranger for Hunter (if owned) or tighten Knight’s survivability before retrying. If you survive with 100% HP but clear slowly, swap Knight for Sorcerer; if you wipe, swap back to Knight immediately.

Simple rule dying → add Knight or improve frontline; surviving easily but slow → add more DPS (Sorcerer or Hunter).

Gear, Cube & builds

The Hero-dric Cube unlocks at hero level 4. Set Alchemy to convert junk gear into gold — fund Rune of Command before perfect sockets. Use Synthesis (nine same-rarity items) to push rarity on role-matched gear.

Socket stat materials into Blue+ gear that matches each hero’s role: armor and HP on Knight, attack and attack speed on Ranger, spell power on Sorcerer. Strip sockets before listing on the Steam Market.

Crit Chance and Attack Speed have no hard cap in this engine — crit can exceed 100% — so DPS builds scale almost endlessly once base Attack Damage is high.

  • Knight: safest hero to invest sockets — armor, HP, damage reduction.
  • Priest: support and HP sockets only — no offensive stats.
  • DPS: offensive sockets first; durability comes from Knight + Priest, not gear.

When to swap your comp

  • Surviving with full HP but slow clears → swap Knight for Sorcerer (or add Hunter burst if owned).
  • Frequent wipes on boss enrage → ensure Priest is deployed; never drop her for a second DPS too early.
  • Long unattended farm → Knight + Ranger + Priest; swap back to Hunter for boss attempts.
  • Just unlocked Hunter → replace Sorcerer or Ranger in the DPS seat for single-target burst.
  • Paid DLC not in budget → Knight + Sorcerer + Priest is free and nearly as strong.

Common build & team mistakes

  • Spreading stat points across offense and defense on one hero — commit to the role.
  • Maxing offense on the Knight — let DPS heroes kill; Knight must stay standing.
  • Putting attack or crit stats on the Priest — healing output is the only number that matters.
  • Stacking attack-speed % on Ranger before base Attack Damage is high enough.
  • Front-lining Sorcerer or Ranger — they die instantly in Act 3+.
  • Buying Hunter or Slayer DLC before funding Formation slot 2 and economy runes.
  • Ignoring pets — Dragon and Bat buffs stack on any team (see pet tier list).
