How pets work in Task Bar Hero

Each pet unlocks after 5,000 online kills of a specific monster (or via Supporter Pack DLC). Once unlocked, the passive bonus is always active — you do not need to equip the pet for the buff to apply.

All pet bonuses stack, so there is no downside to unlocking every pet over time. This tier list ranks return on investment: which grinds to start early vs which DLC pets are worth the money.

All pets ranked (S / A / B)

Pets grant permanent account-wide passives whether deployed or not — the formation slot is cosmetic. Because bonuses stack, unlocking every pet is worthwhile; this list shows which grinds to prioritize first.

Task Bar Hero S Tier Pets

DragonS

Only pet that boosts common chests, gold per kill, and EXP at once. Nothing else matches the triple effect.

Best for: All-around farming, gold, EXP, and chest drops

Dark SpiritDark SpiritS

+15% stage boss chest drop chance scales with Act 2–3 boss routes where chest quality matters most.

Best for: Late-game boss chest farming

BatBatS

Dual boost (common chest + EXP) from Act 1 farming. Best ROI for new accounts — unlock compounds for the whole run.

Best for: Free-to-play early game and leveling

Task Bar Hero A Tier Pets

WatcherWatcherA

+15% gold per kill with an easy Act 2 grind. Outperforms paid Butterfly on raw gold value.

Best for: Gold income and Rune Tree funding

Burning SkeletonBurning SkeletonA

+10% boss chest chance — less than Dark Spirit but still useful before Act 3 ghost farming.

Best for: Mid-game boss chest consistency

SwordA

+15% EXP from Supporter Pack. Solid if you already bought the bundle; not worth buying alone over Bat.

Best for: DLC owners wanting faster hero levels

Task Bar Hero B Tier Pets

Blue GolemBlue GolemB

+15% common chest drops, but filler gear from common chests falls off once synthesis and boss routes matter.

Best for: Common chest volume farming

ButterflyB

Paid +10% gold per kill — strictly worse than free Watcher. Stacks if owned, but poor value on its own.

Best for: Collection completion only

Recommended pet unlock order

Free-to-play players should start with Bat, then Watcher, then boss-chest pets. DLC pets are ranked on value, not power ceiling.

3Burning SkeletonBurning SkeletonYesBoss chest boost for Act 2 gear pushes.
4Dark SpiritDark SpiritYesStronger boss chest multiplier — prioritize once Act 3 farming is stable.
5Blue GolemBlue GolemYesMore common chests, but lower value than boss-chest pets late game.
6DragonDLCTriple boost (chest + gold + EXP) — top pick if you own Supporter Pack.
7SwordDLCEXP-only DLC pet — fine if bundled, but Bat covers early EXP better.

Pet tier list FAQ

What is the best pet in Task Bar Hero?

Dragon is the strongest overall — it boosts common chest drops, gold per kill, and EXP at the same time. For free players, Bat is the best early pick (chest + EXP from Act 1 farming).

Is Butterfly worth buying?

Usually no. Butterfly is a paid pet with +10% gold per kill, while free Watcher gives +15% gold. They stack if you own both, but Butterfly alone is poor value.

Do pets need to be deployed in formation?

No. Pet passives apply account-wide once unlocked. The pet slot in formation is cosmetic only.

Do offline kills count for pet unlocks?

No. Pet unlock grinds require online kills of the listed monster type.
